PSC Transition Days

Transition Days for Year 7 2026 Pakenham Secondary College Students

Tuesday 9th December is the State-wide Orientation Day for the 2026 Year 7 students. To make the transition as stress free for your child as possible, we will also have an extra Transition Day on Monday, 8th December. We understand that some primary schools may have events on this day, however, we do encourage students to attend. Any student who needs to leave early must be signed out at the office.

We are requesting that students wear their primary school uniform on these days; this assists us with better identifying students and also takes away the pressure for students of ‘what to dress in’ for the two days.

Our school day starts at 08:55am. We would therefore expect students to arrive by 08:45am, to be ready for their day. Both days will conclude at 3:15pm.

The focus of the Monday program will be Wellbeing and it will allow students to familiarise themselves with the day-to-day operation of the College.

On Tuesday students will be able to experience a normal day at secondary school. They will be assigned classes and will get the opportunity to meet many of our staff and to move around the College. We will be doing some preparation on reading the school timetable and there will be plenty of help on hand.

Your child will need to bring pens, dress comfortably in their primary school uniform, wear covered sensible shoes, and carry a water bottle (in addition to their morning snacks and lunch).

If you have any concerns or need further information, please contact the College on 5945 1433 or via email on (03) 5945 1433. We look forward to meeting your children.

Extra Transition Sessions

We are also excited to offer extra transition sessions for Grade 6 2025 students who are enrolled to attend Year 7 2026 at Pakenham Secondary College.

These extra sessions are designed to support a smoother transition to secondary school by hopefully easing any nerves students are facing by moving to a new school.

Important message about Year 7 2026 Passion Project Selection

If you have not as yet completed your paper form (which was provided to your primary school) to choose your child's 2026 Passion Projects (for semester 1 and 2), it is now overdue and urgent - to ensure that their choice is taken into account. Please complete the electronic form below.  If you have completed the paper form, please ignore this message, no further information is required at this time.

As part of Pakenham Secondary College's commitment to delivering a rich, engaging and future-focused curriculum, all Year 7 and 8 students will participate in a Passion Project each semester. These projects are a timetabled component of the curriculum and are designed to support student engagement by allowing students to explore their interests and take an active role in their learning. The program aligns with the Victorian Curriculum capabilities, particularly in the areas of critical and creative thinking, personal and social capability, effective communication, problem-solving and collaboration.

Passion Projects provide students with the opportunity to develop transferable skills, pursue areas of genuine curiosity and strengthen connections with peers and staff through practical, hands-on activities.

Students are asked to indicate a first and second preference, as well as a back-up option, from the list of available projects.

While every effort will be made to assign students to one of their top two choices, some projects may not run if minimum numbers are not met, and others may fill quickly due to high demand. In these cases, students will be placed in their back-up option.

Full Passion Project descriptions can be found in the Year 7 and 8 Handbook - here.

Please note: Some Passion Projects may involve excursions that incur a small cost. Families will be notified in advance of any associated fees. Eligible families may use the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) to help cover these costs.

Year 7 2026 Passion Project Selection Form

If you have not yet provided your Passion Project selection to the College, please complete the below form URGENTLY.

Students will participate in one Passion Project per semester. Please nominate your first and second preferences, along with a back-up option in case your top choices are full or unavailable.
