Sub-School and College House Structure

Sub-School Structure

Our sub-school structure is designed to ensure every student feels supported, connected and known throughout their journey at the College.

Each year level is guided by dedicated Team Leaders and supported by a Sub-School Leader, creating a strong network of care and guidance for students and families.

Pakenham Secondary College is organised into five sub-schools, allowing us to provide personalised support for student wellbeing, engagement and learning. This structure also strengthens communication between students, families and teachers, helping every student to thrive both academically and personally.

Each sub-school is led by a Sub-School Coordinator, supported by two or more Team Leaders and a dedicated team of teachers who work closely with students within that sub-school. This collaborative approach helps foster strong relationships, a positive learning environment and a genuine sense of belonging.

The structure at Pakenham Secondary College is:

Year 7, 8 and 9 (Yawa and Warreeny) and Year 7 & 8 (Murnong)

The Junior Sub-school is where critical foundations are built, including teaching students to identify their own strengths, develop planning and concentration skills as well as taking responsibility for their learning by developing a resilient mindset.

Year 10 - VCE Vocational Major (Balam Balam)

The Year 10 - VCE VM Sub-school supports students pursuing a Vocational pathway. Year 10 students have access to a VET course or a School Based Apprenticeship which leads to the completion of VCE Vocational Major in Year 11 and 12.

Year 10 - VCE (Bunjil)

The Year 10 - VCE Sub-school supports students on a mainstream pathway. Students undertake a Year 10 course with the option to complete a Year 11 VCE subject early. They then continue with their VCE studies in Year 11 and 12.

College House Structure

Our College House Structure is an essential feature of college life, with family members joining the house of older siblings.

The College House groups allow for students to compete in sport, performing arts and other co-curricular activities throughout the year. Students and staff are allocated to House groups across their time at the College.

Our new House logos, unveiled in April 2026, celebrate the spirit, achievements and legacy of our College Houses. Each House is named after an influential Indigenous Australian athlete who has not only excelled in their sporting career, but has also made a meaningful and lasting impact within their community. Our Houses proudly honour renowned basketball player Patty Mills, tennis champion Ash Barty, iconic athlete Cathy Freeman and respected footballer Eddie Betts.

Each PSC Eagle logo was designed by our Indigenous Artist in Residence, Sam Richards, with every design thoughtfully created to reflect the remarkable journeys, achievements and cultural significance of the athletes they represent.
