Connecting Schools with Indian Communities (CSIC) Program
Our school is proud to participate in the Connecting Schools with Indian Communities (CSIC) program, a Victorian Government initiative introduced in 2019 as part of Victoria’s India Strategy: Our Shared Future. The program supports secondary schools to build meaningful partnerships with local Indian community groups and organisations.
Through CSIC, students are provided with opportunities to engage in learning experiences that promote intercultural understanding, global awareness and respectful relationships. By connecting with members of the Indian community, students gain insight into India’s rich cultural heritage and its contemporary contributions to Victorian society, while developing important skills such as collaboration, communication and global citizenship.
This program strengthens our school–community connections and supports an inclusive school environment where diversity is valued and celebrated.

Year 7 Cultural Day
Our Year 7 students participated in a memorable Cultural Day, filled with engaging and interactive activities. Students experienced Bollywood dancing, a calming meditative yoga session, an educational cultural quiz and poster activity, as well as creative arts and crafts. We were also very fortunate to welcome Sikh Volunteers Australia, who generously provided a delicious meal for all Year 7 students and staff, adding a wonderful sense of community and generosity to the day.
Senior Students
Senior students were also enriched through the program. Our Year 11 and 12 Business and Accounting students attended an inspiring session titled “From Passion to Purpose: Building Business as a Migrant Woman in Australia”, presented by Deepa Mani, founder of POC (Proud of Colour) Beauty and the Chandralaya School of Dance. Deepa shared her journey into entrepreneurship, the challenges of running a business during the COVID-19 pandemic, and valuable insights into resilience and innovation. The session concluded with a Q&A, allowing students to engage directly and gain a deeper understanding of real-world business experiences.
Additionally, our Year 11 Business students built strong connections with Indian businesses through a guest speaker who explored the cultural and social responsibilities of business. This learning experience was also filmed by the Department of Education, highlighting the impact and success of the program.

Through the Connecting Schools with Indian Communities program, students gained authentic, real-world knowledge, heard firsthand about the important role migrant communities play in Australia’s economy, and developed a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity. These experiences have strengthened our commitment to inclusive education and global understanding, enriching learning across our school community.
