Pakenham Secondary College has the firm expectation that students will always act as responsible citizens of the school community, showing tolerance for the rights and welfare of other people and their property.

We believe that in order for the school to function effectively, students must act at all times in accordance with our Student Code of Conduct. It is expected that all students will demonstrate a high level of self disciplined behaviour. A fundamental part of learning is that students accept the consequences of their behaviour. Logical consequences flow from breaches of the Student Code of Conduct, and these are administered under College procedures. Parents and guardians have the obligation to support the school in its efforts to maintain a productive teaching and learning environment.

We anticipate that students will co-operate and employ common sense and good will to ensure that they obtain the total benefit from their school experience.
All staff are expected to take upon an active role in the management of students with the college. All staff are required to develop their own classroom management plans that are lodged with the relevant Assistant Principal.

Staff with specific responsibility for student welfare and management are:
Form Teachers who meet regularly with the Form to discuss student progress and issues associated with students’ time at Pakenham Secondary College.
Year Level Managers have frequent contact with all the students in the Junior, Middle and Senior Sub schools. They are the first point of contact for parents and guardians on all matters of student progress, welfare and management.
Assistant Principals liaise with students, parents and Year Level Managers on critical issues.
Student Welfare Coordinator is a teacher allocated time to attend to specific welfare needs of students and their families.
Educational Psychologist is available to provide additional counseling for students and their families after being referred to by the Student Welfare Coordinator, Year Level Managers or Assistant Principal.
Outside support agencies are accessed for specific welfare issues.
